So, one rather enterprising individual decided to rank all the states in the U.S. (plus D.C.) by likelihood of it’s inhabitants to survive a zombie apocalypse. You can check the rankings out here. The ranking system he set up is pretty simple: he took quite a few criteria, mostly relating to physical fitness, knowledge/ownership of weapons, or survival skills, and added the ranks up. The lower the score the better your state will fare. So, how did the rankings end up?
Pretty fair I’d say. Alaska comes on top at #1. Now, I’m from Alaska, so that’s no surprise to me. D.C. is 49th out of 51, which probably comes as a relief to most of us. We can rest in peace knowing that the politicians will not fare well. Most of the rest of the rankings make sense, though there are a couple of surprises. Texas, for instance, ranks smack-dab in the middle. You’d think they’d have better scores for military personnel, veterans, and gun ownership, but I guess not. (These must be based on per capita ratios instead of absolute numbers, I guess.) Though I suppose many of the upsets probably depend on your favorable/unfavorable view of the states in question.
So, were there any surprises for you? Let us know if you thought the rankings were fair or B.S.
