crowdsourcinggraves1

It’s been a while again. Things have been busy in my neck of the woods, and slow on the crowdsourcing front. I wonder if it’s just a slow time of year or if more people are realizing that Kickstarter isn’t always the best way to go. Either way, it’s probably a good thing overall, since it means less saturation and a greater chance of the good campaigns getting the funding they need.

So, let’s check out what’s going on right now that I think is good.

nextdoor

First up is “A Zombie Next Door.“  It’s a mocumentary in the vein of Fido, where the zombie apocalypse came and was beaten back, so now zombies are often kept as pets. Though this is aimed more at being humorous than serious. The filming is already done and they’re just raising funds for post production. They’ve already reached their goal, but more money means better editing and more submissions to film festivals. I am somewhat familiar with several of the actors in this film and I think they’re hilarious, so I have high expectations for this film. This one is finishing in just a couple days, so hurry up.

tinyzombies

Next up is a board game in production called Tiny Zombies. From what I’ve seen it looks interesting, if unoriginal. Kind of a cross between the board games Zombies!!! (with the modular board) and Zombicide (with nneding to fight large numbers of different kinds of zombies). It’s aiming for a more cartoony look with an age appropriateness of 10 and up, so it should be pretty kid-friendly if you’ve been looking for a zombie board game for your little ones that’s not quite so gory.

7days

Finally we have Seven Days to Die. I’ve mentioned this one before on the website back when it was first announced, but now I’ve seen it in action… Somewhat. It looks a LOT like Minecraft meets the zombie apocalypse. So this one is nothing new either, and in fact it seems like a bit like the developers (the unfortunately named “Fun Pimps”… seriously, dudes, is that the best you could come up with?) are trying to jump not on one but two bandwagons. But who knows? Maybe it’ll end up being two great tastes that taste great together. The game is still in pre-alpha, so it’s not resembling anything even remotely playable, and you shouldn’t judge the final game (for better or worse) based on what you see in the video. The game is in such an early state, that you should be aware that you have no idea what you’re going to get in the end. It could be great or it could suck. Either way, it might not get made without your help, so are you willing to take that risk? They’ve only got about a week left, but they have also reached their goal and are now working towards stretch goals.
