Many, many zombie video games have come and gone, but none have the claim to the rotted throne that Resident Evil does. Are there other games have that have sought to make the undead apocalypse a bit more realistic? Sure, but I dare say that not one of them would have shambled onto the scene if not for the success of the first Resident Evil game. So am I a Resident Evil fan-boy, yeah probably and will I watch whatever ridiculous installment they roll out next in the RE movie series…yup. But does that mean that I just whole-heartedly love anything with the words “Resident Evil” tacked onto it? Nope.

Resident Evil, like all things within the video game universe, has a die hard fan base that enjoys showing its love by creating questionable homages to the franchise. Most of these homemade videos and whatnot tend to just make me angry or even worse, bored. But that is not the case with the new series Welcome to Raccoon City  from LikeABossTV.

I began watching the intro episode with all of my cynicism and nerdly ire well intact, but the series won me over. It’s well made, true to characters and seeks to fill in some of the gaps between the games. But what really got me was the end screen, which is incredibly well done and lets you choose a character’s story. Clicking on the character takes you to the video for his/her story.

There weren’t many zombies to be seen in the four videos I watched, in fact there was only one, I won’t say where, but it looked good. In fact it looked better than a lot of the straight to home video zombie movies that I have made the serious mistake of watching. So really my only complaint is that the series installments are short, clocking in around four minutes or so, but the creators have promised that the duration of the videos will increase as more fight scenes and zombie action come into play.
