Hey kids, what time is it?
*Crickets chirping*

… All right… Yeah, it’s time for another crowdsource roundup. To be honest, there were so many interesting zombie-related projects these past few weeks that I actually had to trim down how many to include, so as to prevent this article from becoming longer than I was willing to make it.

DeadReckon

First up is “Dead Reckon,” the continuation of the very successful “Zombie-Based Learning” Kickstarter project from a while ago. In case you forgot, Zombie-based Learning was started by a middle school geography teacher who wanted to revitalize his curriculum in a way that would teach effectively, but also engage the students. He did pretty well for the first project, and was able to create a workbook and part one of a comic to replace the textbook itself. Now he’s coming back to try and fund the rest of the comics so the comic-form curriculum will be complete.

As the son of a teacher and a fan of zombies, I consider this project to be not just cool, but also important. Please, if you only support one Kickstarter project this year, support this one.

zombie cards

Next up we have a deck of playing cards with some pretty sweet art. The zombies are all in somewhat number-shaped poses which is cool. This is hardly a new idea. I’ve seen several other zombie playing card decks, and even mentioned a Kickstarter project for one a while back. But that doesn’t mean you should pass this one by. They’ve already met their goal and have set a stretch goal for printing a second deck of cards with different art, but it’s a lofty goal and I’m not sure they’ll make it. By the time this goes live, they’ll only have a couple days left in the campaign, so check them out fast.

almanac

Next is another graphic novel called The Survivor’s Zombinac. It’s another “How to survive the zombie apocalypse” type book, but done in the style of a 50s educational short film. Again, not the most original idea, I’ve seen it several times before (including a script I wrote myself years ago but never filmed) but this one is in comic form instead of being an actual film. It looks interesting and it’s already met it’s funding goal as well as a stretch goal and they’re headed towards another one.

wrapping

Finally, on a lighter note: wrapping paper! Because who hasn’t wished they had zombie-themed wrapping paper for Christmas?
