So the new Dead Island will be upon us soon and I for one am looking forward to it. Clearly, through my writing and blogging one would be safe to assume that I am more than a wee bit of a zombie fan. But can one be too big of a zombie fan? Let us see…

Dead Island Riptide has sponsored a zombie-themed wedding in honor of the game’s release, which is kind of a strange advertising tactic, but who’s to judge when Ford can release cartoons of Paris Hilton with the Kardashians tied up in the trunk of its new car. Admittedly, fitting those three in there would require some decent trunk space, but it’s odd nonetheless. And yes, both ads, the Ford and Dead Island one, use the medium of monsters to sell their products – the Ford ones are far more frightening. But I have to say this zombie wedding actually kind of works and the cake is pretty damn cool.

Watching the three minute video it is clear that everyone at the wedding is in full support of the theme, especially the bride and groom, so why not? Furthermore, weddings are insanely expensive, so if you can get a video game to foot the bill in exchange for some product placement I say go for it. Besides weddings are supposed to be fun and if you can convince your in-laws to dress up as the undead then I say you’ve got a pretty damn good chance at marital bliss.

Real-life couple married in the first UK zombie-themed wedding to celebrate the launch of Dead Island Riptideâ„¢

Last night two people joined in unholy matrimony in the UK’s first wedding to feature a zombie bride and groom, which was the centerpiece of the celebrations for the launch of new zombie videogame, Dead Island Riptideâ„¢.

Jennifer Blackmore (nee Jones), 27, looked resplendent as she shuffled down the aisle in her tattered wedding dress, to be greeted at the altar by her now husband, Rob Blackmore, 31. The couple were made up to look like the undead creatures normally found shuffling and preying on the living in a Hollywood zombie apocalypse movie.

The unorthodox wedding ceremony took place at One Mayfair in London, which was dressed to look like a Caribbean paradise gone to hell — a theme that runs through the Dead Island series of games. The latest of which, Dead Island Riptide, goes on sale in the UK this Friday, 26th April 2013.

Following the wedding blessing and exchanging of the vows presided over by a zombie priest, the ceremony went on to provide the usual trappings found at a traditional wedding, including: the speeches, cutting of the cake and the first dance… but all with a ghoulish zombie twist. Live music was provided by zombified band Mariachi Mexteca, as well as a DJ set from presenter and actress Sarah Chapman.
