REVIEW:Zombies: A Record of the Year of Infection by Robert Twombly by Don Roff illustrated by Chris Lane
Zombies: A Record of the Year of Infection is a fun and very interesting read. Don Roff not only does a wonderful job making this book believable but he also gives well thought out information. This book was so believable I thought Robert Twombly was the real author.
The book is written in first person as a journal kept by Dr. Robert Twombly. He is a blood specialist, living and working out of Seattle, Washington. One day, while working in his lab, he starts noticing a panic out on the streets. While he investigates the alarm he learns that a Virus from an unknown origin is infecting the people everyone around the world. One by one everyone outside of the lab turned into mindless flesh eating zombies. Though it is unclear how a person becomes infected, the virus makes its way inside the lab. Robert’s co-workers slowly begin getting infected with this virus and pass away. A few minutes later their eyes open and begin to attack the living. When Robert realizes the problem in his lab there are only three living people left. A shorter time later he is the only one left alive in the building.
Twomnly kept a journal through the first stage of the infection. Zombies: A Record of the Year of Infection is the result. It is said at the beginning of the book that no one knows what happen to Dr. Robert Twomnly. But as you read his final entry, you’ll understand why.
Zombies: A Record of the Year of Infection is a book I would recommend to anyone interested in zombies. It is well written and well thought out. Everything from the virus to the way he describes the infected is wonderful. I love the illustrations, done by Chris Lane; they fell real and in-dept.
There are a few flaws that I’d like to point out. Often, in his journal entries, there are some incomplete sentences. He starts off making a point, doesn’t like the word he used, crosses it out and doesn’t finish the sentence. Also, the cost of this book at a bookstore is ridiculous. It retails for $19.95 and trust me this book is not worth that price. It is in the humor section if you’re searching for it but if you plan on buying it Amazon would be your best bet.
